PJ Blue, former Louisville linebacker, dead at 27

PJ Blue is a former college football player who Louisville CardinalsThe school announced on Monday that it had passed away.

He is 27 years old.

The Alabama native worked on Louisville in 2016 but suffered a torn ACL before his college debut. When he entered the court in 2018, the Blues had 39 tackles in 11 games. He missed another knee injury in the 2019 season and didn’t play again.

“We are saddened by the death of Cardinal Forever PJ Blue,” Louisville said in a social media post. “Our thoughts are with his loved ones.”

The cause of death was not announced.

College football Fans took to social media to express condolences to Blue and his family.

Blue is a highly touted high school prospect. He was appointed as the All-American team at Park Cross High School, and is a Under Armour All-American and U.S. Army All-American candidate.

Todd Grantham, then Louisville defensive coordinator, said he was “excited” about the Blue entering the program.

“As long as you can get big guys that can run and hit, you’re going to be great at defense. He’s a length, scale, capable of running. He has flexibility. … I think he has a bright future,” he said, “by he’s through Express Journal.

Blue received a quote from Alabama, Clemson and Ole Miss et al. chose Louisville.
