A Peruvian fisherman found alive during 95 days of rafting Pacific Ocean He said he ate cockroaches, birds and turtles to survive.
Maximo Napa found his dehydration and was in critical condition when he was found about 680 miles from the Peru coast on Wednesday on the Ecuadorian Fisher Patrol. He initially left Marcona, a town on the southern coast of Peru Fishing Tour December 7.
“I don’t want to die,” Napa told Reuters. “I ate cockroaches, birds, the last thing I ate was sea turtles.”
“I think of my mother every day,” he added. “I thank God for giving me a second chance.”

Napa was initially filled with enough food to spend two weeks at sea, but 10 days he was abandoned by stormy weather and eventually drifted in the Pacific.
The news agency added that Napa collected rainwater on the boat, but he eventually ran out of food sources and ate nothing for the past 15 days.

Napa reportedly kept hope by thinking about his family and his infant and granddaughters.
According to Reuters, his mother, Elena Castro, told Peru: “I told the Lord that he was alive or dead, even to see him, I brought him back to me.”
She added: “But my daughter never lost her confidence. They kept telling me: Mom, he will come back, he will come back.”
