Shortly after 5 p.m., Portstown police responded to a two-car crash on Beach Street and North Vernon Street in Portstown, Montgomery County.
Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said in a statement that a man involved in the crash tried to grab a gun in his car, leading to a fight between him and the officer.

Steele said the man then ran to his home on foot when police chased him.

According to Fox 29, officials from several agencies and a SWAT team surrounded the house and issued live orders for residents in the winding road areas.
At about 10:30 p.m., officials announced that the suspect had been detained. NBC 10 reported that the on-site shelter will be lifted soon.
