This is the first time in his career Patrick Mahomes Failed to win the first two games of a season. Including the Super Bowl loss to Philadelphia, Mahomes was in a three-game winning streak for the first time in his career.
These are not numbers that the Chiefs want to open up the new season, but the Hawks rolled 2-0 in 2025 thanks to the defense provided on the road.

Rookie defensive back Andrew Mukuba made a key performance with half a sack, six tackles and his first interception. The Chiefs fell three times in the fourth quarter, with Mahomes (working to find consistency early in the game) facing second and goals in the Hawks’ 6-yard line.

This mat proves to be crucial. Mahomes took a 49-yard touchdown strike to Tyquan Thornton, reducing the deficit to three. But Philadelphia resumed subsequent kicks, and AJ Brown fixed the ball to establish the Hawks’ final round.

Saquon Barkley scored 22 times for a total of 88 yards and a touchdown, and he picked up the necessary yardage to get the pain down. Hurts scored 15 goals for 101 yards in 22, managing the game while defending the defense steals the game.
Mahomes scored 16 of 29 with a touchdown and led the Chiefs to rush for 66 yards, with seven more points.
This is not the gunfight fans I saw on Superdome in February, but the Hawks have proven to be a senior team again.
