Anti-Israel organizer Mahmoud Khalil tore up the administration of Columbia University in a column published in a school newspaper on Friday.
Column, The title is “A Letter to Colombia”, accusing “setting the foundation for my kidnapping”. He continues to compare President Donald Trump Suppressing anti-Israeli protesters’ indifference to Colombia’s Palestinians, listing other students “taken by the state.”
“The situation is strangely reminiscent of when I escaped the cruelty of Bashar al-Assad in the Syrian regime and sought asylum in Lebanon,” Khalil wrote. “The logic used by the federal government to target itself and my peers is a direct extension of Colombia’s script of repression about Palestine.”
He went on to accuse Colombian administrators of creating “public hysteria about anti-Semitism, which once did not mention thousands of Palestinians murdered in bombs made of your dollar.”

He also targeted some classmates in Colombia, who he said helped to spread against anti-Semitism across campus. He also noted that some students’ efforts exposed the crackdowns of anti-Israel protesters, although he did not name anyone.

“Especially given the dual degree program at Tel Aviv University, I can’t help but think that if I were in Palestine, some of these students would be people who stopped me at checkpoints, raided my university, surveillance my community, surveillance my neighbors, or murdered my neighbors on the Colombian islands on campus and seized victims in class,” he said.

“For members of Columbia faculty, they pat their backs for their tendencies to progress, but are content to limit their participation to performative statements: What is needed to resist the destruction of the university? He added.

Last week, several Columbia University Students tied themselves to the gate outside St. Paul’s church in the school in protest of Khalil’s arrest.

The student asked the institution to publish the trustee’s name, “name Mahmoud Khalil as ICE.” “We will not leave until our needs are met,” the Colombian Palestine Solidarity Commission wrote on X.
The school denies that any of its administrators require ICE to exist on campus.
