Tyler O’Neill’s name has become Major League Baseball Opening Day home run.
The outfielder hit three home runs in his three innings Baltimore Orioles It debuted on Thursday. O’Neill expanded his major league record with Homering for the sixth straight opening day. O’Neill achieved this feat in the third inning in his native Canada, his home country, with the Toronto Blue Jays hosting the Orioles at the Rogers Center.
O’Neill’s Homer drove his teammates Colton Cowser and Adley Rutschman. The big hit also gave the Orioles a 4-0 lead over the Blue Jays.

“When he hit it, I think everyone went crazy because that was a great feat,” Rutzman said. “It was so cool to see.”
O’Neill had three hits and two walks in five appearances on the plate. Left scored three games and said it made sense to perform well in front of his family and friends.

“It’s very special,” he said. “I’ve had a great day so far. Playing in Toronto is always special for me.”

Oriole manager Brandon Hyde called O’Neill’s opening record “incredible” and added that he quickly learned to appreciate what his new outfielder brought to the clubhouse.
“Awesome personality,” Hyde said of O’Neal. “I love how hard he works. He’s a team person.”
O’Neill’s opening Japanese home run started in St. Louis in 2020 and lasted for four seasons, with marks held by Todd Hundley (1994-97), Gary Carter (1977-80) and Yogi Berra (1955-58).

O’Neill arrived at the stadium Thursday with two boxes of donuts from popular Canadian chain Tim Hortons to share with his Baltimore teammates. He did the same thing when he visited Toronto with the Red Sox last season.

Hyde said O’Neal had no problem repeating donut delivery on Friday.
“What works,” Hyde said. “Wear the same clothes. What he does today, do it tomorrow.”
The Orioles finally led the Blue Jays 12-2 with Cruise to start the 2025 season. Charlie Morton will play in the second of four games on the pitching mound in Baltimore on Friday night. Kevin Gausman to start Blue Bird.
