OpenAI updates ChatGPT to reference your past chats | TechCrunch

Openai announced Thursday that it will begin rolling out new memory capabilities in Chatgpt, which allows chatbots to tailor their answers to users based on the content of their previous conversations.

Openai said the feature aims to make conversations with Chatgpt more relevant to users in its settings. The company added that the update will add dialogue context to Chatgpt’s text, voice and image generation capabilities.

The new memory feature will be launched first with Chatgpt Pro and Plus subscribers, in addition to the UK, EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. Openai said the regions require other external comments to comply with local regulations, but the company is ultimately committed to providing its technology here.

Openai has no news to share free ChatGpt user releases. “We are now focusing on launching the paid tier,” a spokesperson told TechCrunch.

The purpose of the new memory feature is to make chatgpt more fluid and personalized – you don’t have to repeat the information you’ve already shared with Chatgpt. In February, Google A similar memory feature was launched In Gemini.

Of course, not every user will be excited about more information about the Openai vacuum cleaner. Fortunately, there is an opt-out. In the settings of ChatGpt, users can choose to turn off the new memory function and manage specific saved memories.

You can also ask Chatgpt what you remember, or switch to temporary chat for conversations that won’t be stored, Openai said.

Last year, Openai updated Forgot or remember specific details as requested. However, this feature usually requires explicit prompts from the user to update ChatGpt’s memory. Today’s launch makes the process more seamless in theory.

OpenAI says that by default, new memory features will be enabled for users who previously had the CHATGPT memory feature turned on.
