Olympic Alpine Skier Berkin USTA25, tragically killed with his father in a fire that consumed a closed ski resort in northwestern Türkiye early Thursday morning.

Governor Bursa’s office said 12 staff members were present during the fire and several people were sucked in smoke.

USTA and his father, Yahya Usta (Chairman of the Turkish Ski and Ski Teachers Association), were killed in the fire. Yahya Usta’s wife is believed to survive.
“We are deeply aware that our national skier National Skier Berkin USTA represented our country in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Erzurum 2017 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival, while his father, former national skier Yahya Usta, died in a hotel fire in Uludağ.”
“We wish God mercy to our country’s skier Berkin Usta and his father Yahya Usta and to express condolences to his family, loved ones and the sports community.”

The victim’s daughter was allegedly murdered by a former Olympian order saying “he must face karma”
IOC President Thomas Bach also issued a statement following the tragic news.
“We have learned about the tragic death of Turkish Olympic skier Berkin Usta, and his father learned about it in a terrible fire. Berkin’s dream of participating in the Olympics, played in the 2022 at the Alpine ski slopes by participating in the Olympic Winter Overs. Our idea is to be with family and friends.”
Local officials believe the fire began in the hotel cafeteria. Despite the cancellation of its accommodation permit, the family still lives on the fifth floor of the hotel. It is not clear why they are in the hotel.

The fire at the six-story 30-year-old hotel was released within two hours, but before the fire consumed most of the floors.
