She described herself as “a Level I athlete, a businesswoman, and I have been the highest paid female athlete since the NIL rules changed.” She said the settlement failed to acknowledge her true value.
“This solution uses old logic to calculate modern value,” Dunn said. “It takes a narrow snapshot of a narrow mature market and freezes it, ignoring the trajectory we are on and the deals we lose and the future we may have.”
The plaintiff’s attorney later said that the gymnast would receive an updated distribution.

House settlement, Arizona Swimmer Grant House will allow schools to use media rights, ticket sales and sponsorship directly to college athletes to pay 22% of their revenue to use zero. Payments from external sources are still allowed.
Nola.com notes that the settlement will provide more than $2.5 billion to athletes whose NCAA cannot make money until its rules are changed in 2021.
The settlement also calls for a clearinghouse to ensure that any zero transaction worth more than $600 meets fair market value to prevent presumed payment transactions.
On Monday, U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken showed no sign that the complaint changed her mind about settlement. She acknowledged the issues and asked each attorney to provide new feedback on several topics. Her decision is expected to come true within weeks.
“Basically, I think it’s a good solution, don’t quote me, I think it’s worth it,” Wilken said. “I think if people try to fix them, some of these things can be solved and it’s worth it.”
Wilken has approved preliminary approval of a settlement involving the NCAA and its largest conference. It is scheduled to take effect on July 1.

“Today’s hearing on landmark settlements is an important step in the modern university movement,” the NCAA said in a statement. “If approved, settlement will give student-athletes the opportunity to receive nearly 50% of the athletic sector revenue in a sustainable and equitable system in the coming years.”
