Gaza aid activist group claims drones hit its ship

Tunisian officials on Tuesday rejected claims from a militant group that a drone bombed its fleet as it was providing humanitarian aid to humanitarian aid Gaza.
Tunisia’s interior ministry said in a statement that the report of a drone strike on the ship in Sidi Bou said the port “has actually no basis” and was investigating the fires that broke out on the ship.
The response is Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) said in an overnight statement that one of its main vessels was “hit by a drone.” The ship sailed under the Portuguese flag, causing damage to its main deck and deck storage, but no one was injured, the group said.
Video posted on social media of the group showed a ship glittering and sparking something that seemed to be a fire.

“Aggression aimed at threatening and derailing will not stop us,” it said in a statement. “Our peace mission is to break the siege of Gaza and to unite with the people and continue to be determined unwaveringly.”

The fleet is part of a campaign consisting of ships from 44 countries carrying humanitarian aid, including food, water and medicine, with the aim of delivering it to civilians in the Gaza Strip. Swedish activist Greta Thunberg Be a member of the group.

Miguel Duarte, a Portuguese activist on board, said at a press conference that he was obviously a drone that was more than a few meters tall in his mind before the explosion.
“The drone stood on a pile of life jackets for a few seconds, and then dropped the bomb,” Duarte said. “The bomb exploded, there was a big fire, and the fire immediately broke out. We picked up the fire extinguisher and we were able to put out the fire successfully and luckily everyone was safe.”

Israel Hamas has imposed a naval blockade on Gaza since its containment in 2007, saying weapons must be blocked from being smuggled. In October 2023, after the deadly attack on Israel by terrorist organizations, the blockade of the entire Israeli war with Hamas has remained unchanged.
