During his workday, Barrett woke up at midnight and headed out for an ice bath.
He then drove an hour to the Bronx, where he worked with the New York Police Department’s arrest warrant, a highly professional department that fenced dangerous criminals and demanded serious crimes.

But before Barrett’s attack, the 6’1″ detective hit the gym to pump iron and hit the treadmill.
He then went on his regular police shift from around 3:30 am to around 3:30 pm before driving home, spending great time with his family, usually no later than 8 pm.
“It’s the most important thing to get my training – I’ve been doing this for 21 years.”
On the weekend, Barrett got up around 3 a.m., got an ice bath and then worked in his dedicated home gym so he could make a day with his family.

“It’s the most important thing to get my training – my wife thinks I’m crazy, people think I’m crazy, but I’ve been doing it for 21 years,” Barrett told Fox News Digital.
“And it not only sets the standard of the day, especially the first thing in the morning, but it’s just me. It’s just me. No matter where I’m, when I’m going to wake up, or everything I’m going to do – I’ll train.”

According to Barrett, getting up early is not as complicated as people think.

In the interview, Barrett’s youngest son Henry pointed out that he also wanted to follow the family’s policing tradition.
“I feel like I’m living the best life. I really like my life and even in today’s crazy climate, I tell people … it’s a great job to be a policeman,” Barrett said. “I encourage everyone who is thinking: keep moving forward.”
