Adams announced last week that the Roosevelt Hotel Immigration Shelter in Manhattan will be closed in the coming months.
The hotel has been transformed into an immigration shelter with about 1,000 rooms, and has processed more than 173,000 immigrants since May 2023. It was established as an immigration shelter to cope with the wave of immigration that began searching for shelter in New York City in 2022.
Sources told the New York Post that the Roosevelt Hotel’s shelter and the humanitarian emergency and relief center located on site will now be closed in June.

This week, he continues to address the city’s efforts.
He noted that the City’s Small Business Services Department links the immigrant population to hundreds of job opportunities, and the rest of his administration continues to find ways to help newcomers, from direct outreach and resource fairs to second language courses in on-site English as a shelter.
