NVIDIA is working with Disney Research and Google DeepMind to develop Newton, a physics engine to simulate the movement of robots in the real world, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang GTC Tuesday 2025.
Disney will be one of the first to use Newton to power its next generation of entertainment robots Star Wars– Inspired BDX Robots – One of them wades on the stage next to Yellow during Tuesday’s keynote.
NVIDIA plans to release an early open source version of Newton later in 2025.

Disney has been proposing the idea of bringing these to life for years Star Wars– Robots that inspire parks around the world. There are several controlled demonstrations robotthe most recent time was in SXSW 2025. Now – partly thanks to Newton, probably – Disney feels the technology is ready and plans to Several theme park locations Starting next year.
exist Press releaseKyle Lauglin, Disney’s Imagination Senior Vice President, said the partnership with NVIDIA and Google DeepMind will also play a key role in helping the future Disney entertainment robot push.
Nvidia said Newton should help robots become more “expressive” and “learn how to handle complex tasks with more precise accuracy.” Physics engines are designed to help developers simulate how robots interact with the natural world, which can sometimes present challenges for robot developers.
NVIDIA claims Newton is highly customized. For example, developers can use it to robotically interact with food, cloth, sand, and other deformable objects.
NVIDIA added that Newton will be compatible with Google Deepmind’s ecosystem of robot development tools, including its physics engine Mujoco, which simulates multi-joint robot motion.
Newton is one of many announcements from NVIDIA this week to launch GTC 2025. The company also launched a basic AI model for humanoid robots. Groot N1the company said, which allows robots to better sense and justify. Additionally, the company shared a timeline Next-generation AI chipsincluding Blackwell Ultra and Rubin, and unveiled New series of “Personal AI Computers”.
