“Many people do think that border security mainly means privacy, invasive surveillance, such as facial recognition and biometrics, and the role they can play in pattern recognition. It’s really about identifying suspicious behavior and connecting different intelligences to the individuals we are monitoring,” he said.

Bruton stressed that citizens should adopt strong security measures and strong protection of their rights.
“Elaborately designed AI provides enhanced protection for Americans and our communities while maintaining our citizens, frankly, the transparency and accountability our administration needs,” he said. “So if we’re smart about our work, we can make real, impactful changes to what we do on the northern and southern borders.”
Canada’s role in border security
