Nintendo revealed more about its upcoming consoles directly today, Switch 2the first thing it shows is the new Mario Kart Championship. Called Mario Kart World, this new game is unique to Switch 2 and has some changes compared to the rest of the series. It launches the same day as Switch 2.
The most notable difference between the Mario Kart world and the previous Mario Kart champion is the large open world. Instead of limiting players to a series of tracks, the world places the tracks in an open world and allows players to freely travel through it between them. They can deviate from the world, drive leisurely to enjoy the scenery and take photos. The world will have daytime/night cycles and weather changes, all of which change the world.
The track itself will host up to 24 competitors, and players can also ride the railway by taking two wheels. Mario Kart World has Grand Prix and Knockout Tours where you can compete in the open world and will be eliminated if you rank too low.
Nintendo plans to reveal more details about the world in a special direct sale on April 17. The digital version of the game is $80, and Nintendo will also release a bundled version of Switch 2 and include the game for a limited time in the fall.
