Malaysian government finally approves a Texas-based company to resume searches Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 More than a decade after the plane disappeared.
According to Transport Secretary Anthony Loke, the terms and conditions of an “unintentional, no fee” contract with Ocean Infinity began an undersea search operation at the new 5,800 square miles site. The company can only pay $70 million when the wreckage is discovered.
“The government is committed to continuing the search operation and providing closures for passengers’ families Flight MH370 Locke said in a statement.
The disappearance of 2014 remains one of the most annoying mysteries in aviation. The Boeing 777 took off from Kuala Lumpur and headed to Beijing on March 8, 2014, disappeared 90 seconds after leaving Malaysian airspace, with all 239 passengers seemingly without traces. Satellite data shows that the plane turned south from its flight path and headed towards the far south Indian Ocean, where it is believed to have crashed.

Ocean Infinity declined comment Thursday morning when Fox News Digital came into contact. Last year, it told Fox News that it hopes to “reduce the search area to what can be achieved by success.”
An expensive transnational search failed to raise any clues about the location of MH370, although debris landed on the coast of East Africa and on the Indian Ocean islands. Although CEO Oliver Punkett earlier this year said the company had improved technology since then, private searches in 2018 also found nothing.

Locke said his ministry will soon be contracted with Ocean Infinity, but did not provide details on the terms. The company reportedly sent search ships to the location and pointed out in December that January to April is the best time to search.
“While the next passenger and crew relatives try to rebuild our lives, the threat to global aviation safety remains a field issue,” Voice370, a group of relatives Passengers from MH370, Previously said in a statement.

“As long as we stay in the dark about what happened to MH370, we will never be able to prevent similar tragedies. Therefore, we think it is crucial to do a search for MH370.
