New Mexico mass shooting suspects arrested, victims identified

Police in New Mexico said two suspects were charged with three counts of public murder after a mass shooting in the park, killing three deaths and wounding 15 people.

Thomas Rivas, 20, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested Saturday night Las Cross Police said on Facebook. The victims who died in the shooting in Young Park Friday night were identified as Andrew Madrid, 16, Jason Gomez, 18, and Dominick Estrada, 19.

Police said Madrid and Gomez died at the scene, while Estrada died after being taken to the hospital.

15 victims, People whose ages are between 16 and 36 are injured. Police said nine were male and six were female, adding that they would not release their names to “protect their privacy.” The medical conditions of the surviving victims have not been released.

Police said three people were killed, 15 were injured and injured in the New Mexico shooting.

“This tragedy reminds us that we will all continue to unite to resolve these meaningless violence,” Albuquerque Democratic House Speaker Javier Martinez said Saturday at the end of the annual legislative session.

“The investigation so far shows that there is a dispute between the two groups, and the dispute between the two groups escalates into a shooting,” Las Cruces police chief Jeremy Story told reporters at a press conference.

Rivas was booked at the Doña Ana County detention center where he is currently in custody. The juvenile suspect was taken to a juvenile detention center. Police said additional charges against both are yet to be heard.

Federal and state agencies are assisting the Las Crooks Police Department in continuing to investigate the shooting.
