Although the cause of death is still under investigation, adults are not vaccinated and have not sought medical help before death.
The victim lives throughout the West Texas area in the center of the outbreak.

“We don’t want to see New Mexico get sick or die of measles,” said Dr. Chad Smelser, a lieutenant epidemiologist. “The measles pink vaccine is the best protection for this serious disease.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said earlier this week that it will send a team to help with the outbreak in Texas.
The adult is the tenth person in Leah County, New Mexico, who is confirmed to have measles.

The Texas Department of Health Services said most of the infected are unvaccinated children.
