First on Fox – A new one migrant Customs law enforcement detention centers, known as the “Louisiana Lock,” are now open in the notorious Louisiana State Prison to accommodate some of the “worst”, illegal immigrants who commit crimes.
Fifty-one immigrants have been moved to the facility. Homeland Security Officials told Fox News.
Known as the Angola Prison, the prison is located on 18,000 acres of land and was once known as the “bloodiest prison in the south” for its harsh conditions. According to the Angola Museum, the prison received a nickname in 1962 because stabbing became so common. Prisoners sued the state in the early 1970s for severe conditions, and federal courts demanded reforms.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is working with Louisiana Use part of the prison to expand the detention space for 416 beds. Funding comes from “a large bill” that allows ICE to add 80,000 new detention beds to help increase deportation.

The detainees will be placed in an unused area called Camp J, which was once called the “dungeon” because most of the cells are used for solitary confinement. In late July, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry declared a state emergency to allow speeding up camp repairs.
“Louisiana Lock” is the latest facility converted to ice detention centers after Florida’s “Crocodile Alcatraz” and “Speedway Slammer” in Nebraska.

“Criminal Illegal Foreigners Beware: Louisiana’s lockdown is where your time in the United States ends,” Landry said. “The Louisiana lockdown will provide the ICE with the space needed to lock down some of the most serious criminal illegal foreigners (including criminals, rapists, pedophiles, lover traffickers and gang members) who will no longer be able to threaten our families and communities. This facility is in line with President Trump’s performance and in line with President Trump’s safety. President Trump, Leadership and partnerships between Secretary Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi and Ice and Snow Director Madison Sheahan. Together, we are making Louisiana and the United States safer. ”
