The FBI will welcome the second deputy director for the first time in its history with the Missouri Attorney General Monday Andrew Bailey Resigned from joining the bureau.
Bailey will serve as co-director with Dan Bongino and report to FBI Director Kash Patel. This unprecedented setup emerges when President Donald Trump brings new emphasis to federal law enforcement under wider crime suppression. There is also controversy about the FBI handling Jeffrey Epstein’s investigation, with sources saying Bongino was frustrating.
“I am so grateful to Missouri when I was your attorney general’s last few hours as your attorney general, because serving you has always been a lifelong honor,” Bailey wrote in a statement on social media. “Together, we have achieved a lot for the place we call home. Until Missouri calls again, thank you.”
The FBI did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

As the Missouri AG, Bailey became a national headline against former President Joe Biden’s efforts to eliminate student debt. He also worked to curb diversity, equity and inclusion programs at several major companies, including At Starbucks, He accused “race-based recruitment” earlier this year. Bailey also spoke in favor of President Donald Trump’s executive order to end citizenship of reproductive rights.
Bailey also launched an anti-human trafficking task force, which has targeted more than 1,100 reported incidents in Missouri, in addition to clearing the forensic evidence (safety) kit for sexual assault to improve prosecutions for sexual assault cases.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed last month that Bailey was hiring when Trump started the federal government’s hiring for Washington, D.C. and his national crime crackdown.

Bailey entered weeks of rumble about Epstein’s archives after the FBI. Bongino is said to have angered his voice in a private discussion with White House Chief of Staff Sucy Wells and Bondy, according to two sources near the Justice Department’s leadership. Another source said the ordeal made him consider resigning from the FBI.

Bongino, frustrated by the launch of the public Epstein memorandum in July, believes Bondi “has lacked transparency from the start”. The memorandum, a joint product of the Justice Department and the FBI, said the two agencies had no further information to share with the public about the Epstein case, a revelation that sparked the outrage of Margo Base.
