Authorities released six people New York plane crash Saturday, including a highly acclaimed former student-athlete.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), six victims, most of whom were relationships, died around 12:15 local time. Airplane, a Mitsubishi MU-2B, On the way to Columbia County Airport Hudson, New York As it fell into an open muddy field, about ten miles south.
Karenna Groff, a football player at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), was named NCAA Women of the Year in 2022, one of the deceased, her parents, Dr. Michael Groff and Dr. Joy Saini. Grove had been studying medicine at New York University at that time.
Her brother Jared Groff and his partner Alexia Couyutas Duarte were also killed in the flight. Karenna Groff’s boyfriend James Santoro boarded the flight and died.

That morning, six people boarded the plane at Westchester County Airport in White Plains. Shortly before the crash, pilots conducted air traffic control at Columbia County Airport, saying he missed the initial method and asked for a new method plan.
The air traffic controller prepared new coordinates and tried to send three high-altitude alerts to the unresponsive pilots.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash, which may take up to 24 months to complete.

NTSB official Todd Inman said in a briefing Sunday that the plane, a private jet owned by Michael Groff, was found “compressed, bent and embedded in muddy fields.”
Inman also said authorities had obtained videos of the flight, which seemed to indicate that the plane “crashed on the ground” intact.

The NTSB also said the aircraft has recently upgraded its newer FAA certified technology, and pilots fly according to instrument flight rules rather than visual flight rules.
James’s father, John Santoro, expressed grief over the tragedy and described Groffs as the Associated Press’s “good family.”
