“We are doing this so that the community that we owes partly to the work … can see these images,” federal prosecutor Daniel Adler said in a news conference.
Earlier this week, the defendant’s attorney Carlos Murias asked the civil court to authorize the auction, but demanded that the request be rejected, according to the Associated Press.
