President Donald Trump According to the New York Times, SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk were not interested in how the United States would clash with China at the Pentagon meeting Friday, showing details about any war plans involving the war with Beijing.
Trump told reporters on Friday that Musk met with Pentagon officials to discuss initiatives related to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which Musk is leading.
“We don’t want to have a potential war with China,” Trump said Friday in the Oval Office. “But I can tell you that if we do it, we can all handle it well. But I don’t want to show that to anyone. But of course, you won’t be a businessman who helped us a lot. He’s a great patriot. He’s done a great job of helping us cut costs at a huge cost, he’s done a great job.”

Musk and China may be in a conflict of interest given Tesla’s commercial deal with China and SpaceX’s relationship with the Pentagon in terms of military space capabilities. Adversaries like China learn details about the U.S. military’s war plans could put national security at risk and undermine the U.S. military.
But the Minister of Defense Pete Hegseth Musk’s meeting at the Pentagon revolves around the Pentagon, innovation and other ways to improve efficiency, not China.
“There is no war plan. There is no war plan in China,” Heggs said Friday at the White House. “There is no secret plan. That’s not what we did at the Pentagon.”

Hegseth also announced Thursday that it plans to cancel more than $580 million in a Department of Defense contract, according to Doge’s recommendations.

In response to Hegseth’s post, Musk replied: “That’s right. And, I’ve been to the Pentagon many times over the years. Not the first time I’m in a building.”
Musk also said that in another article, he “prosecuted people who leaked false information to New York fashion at the Pentagon.”
“They will be found,” he said.
