MurrennaFrench Privacy Company, which forked the delivery of so-called Android Degoogled smartphonerepeat the techniques with a tablet. So if you crave a gloss Pixel Tablet – But without the usual Google apps and services bundles, Murena has covered you.
this Murena Pixel Tablet run /e/os Open source operating system, not Google’s Android flavor – so there’s hope for a “privacy-focused Android experience” on the device’s 10.95-inch LCD display.
“Enjoy all the performance and versatility you need while minimizing data tracking, having a safer experience, and no Google service collects your personal information,” Murena also wrote. It says it adds the tablet to the hardware selection for /E/OS resale installed with “a lot of demand.”
Pixel tablets with 128 GB of internal storage and 8 GB of RAM are available from Murena’s online store 539 euros.
Being classified, you won’t find the Google Play Store on your device. Instead, /e/os provides an app marketplace called App Lounge, where users can download apps available in Google Play and F-Droid “Anonymous” – although accessing paid apps does require using a Google account Log in. While recreating the full app market experience without any links to Google is obviously a difficult issue, Murena has been busy building privacy-focused alternatives for standalone applications like Google Drive and Office 365. File storage, backup and office suites are called Workspace and offer free 1 GB of storage space for a paid plan afterwards.
