Israeli media reported that two attackers boarded the bus and opened fire. Medical staff said 15 other people were injured and six were in serious condition.
Police said two attackers were “neutralized” shortly after the shooting began, but no additional information about the attacker’s identity has been released.
Medical staff responding to the scene said the area was chaotic, covered with broken glass, people were injured and unconscious on the road, on the sidewalk near the bus stop.
The ongoing war in Gaza has been approaching nearly two years since the October 7 massacre, with deadly attacks. The war in Gaza has inspired a surge in violence in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Israel. Palestinian militants attacked and killed Israelis in Israel and the West Bank, and settlers’ violence against Palestinians has increased.
