Authorities believe that she was killed hours before Ramaraju called Santa Ana Police at 9:12 a.m., and she told authorities that she killed her son and took pills in an attempt to commit suicide.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene when Ramaraju was treated in the hospital. She was released and arrested on Thursday.
Authorities said they found a large kitchen knife believed to have been used in the attack. According to the District Attorney’s Office, the cooking tool was purchased the day before.
“The life of a child should not be trapped in a balance between two parents, whose anger towards each other than love for the child,” Spitzer said. “Anger can make you forget the person you love and responsible for what you do.”
