Meiner said: “If you’re going to put a movie like this, ‘no other land, it’s a one-sided promotional work.
“I watched this movie. I’m a staunch believer in freedom of speech. But, as a country, I think we’ve done a really good job … since the Civil Rights Movement, pointing out the existence of hatred and propaganda,” Meiner continued. “This is a perfect example of this movie, a one-sided promotional hit, which misses some very important facts that change the entire context of the movie.”
Meiner is an orthodox Jew who believes that “no other land” is disturbing in many ways and is full of anti-Semitism. The film won the 2025 Oscar for Best Documentary and was produced by two Israelis and two Palestinians, promoting it “shows the destruction of Israeli soldiers destroying Messaph Yata in the occupied West Bank.”
However, Meiner insists that the critical context is not in the project.
“What this movie doesn’t tell you is that there is a long history here. In fact, under the Oslo Agreement, Israel has the right to the property. In fact, it’s actually a military training area for decades, and when vacant, it’s actually vacant land.

“But in the end, the Palestinians started to really build houses to create this wedge problem.” Ultimately, Israel participated not only with their army. They went to the courts, they went to the Supreme Court of Israel, and often opposed the Israelites to rule. But in this case, it is so clear that it is a military training area, which is illegally occupied by this Palestinian, and the Israeli army ordered Israel to order those homelands, and that’s it.
Meiner said the situation is similar to Mexican immigrants who crossed the southern U.S. border and built houses at U.S. military bases.
He said: “I don’t allow this, nor should I do Israel, but the movie doesn’t tell you.”
On the Jewish side, Meiner felt that support for the film was just the latest example of a clear “double standard.”
“I firmly believe that if this is a film that is an attack on black racists or an LGBTQ community, I think your reaction is different than your reaction to Jews,” Meiner said.
The mayor insisted that he had no problem with the release of the film in a private theater, but o the cinema was on the property owned by the city and subsidized the grants in part. He said the old town hall in Miami Beach was not popular for “promotion.”
“It’s government funded government property, and that’s the essence of the concerns I raised at the beginning,” he said.

“After reflecting on the broader impact on freedom of speech and the mission of O-film, I (along with the O-film Commission and staff) agreed that it is crucial to screen the famous film,” Martel told the Associated Press.
Martel continued: “We understand the power of films to tell important stories, and we recognize that some stories, especially those rooted in real-world conflicts – can evoke strong feelings and passionate reactions. “Our decision to screen ‘other lands’ is not a statement of political alliance. It is a bold reaffirmation of our fundamental belief that every voice should be heard. ”
More than 600 film producers, including Michael Moore, signed a letter asking Miami Beach commissioners to refuse to evictions ahead of Wednesday’s expected vote, Axios Report.
