A Tennessee congressman criticized President Donald Trump’s plan to send National Guard resources to Memphis, saying Friday that as a part-time Washingtonian, the city would not feel any safety after its own anti-crime operations.
“I had hoped National Guard Will not be deployed here [to Memphis]”Rep. Steve Cohen, who represents “The House of Blues”, said.
Cohen said the real way to solve the crime is to invest with a better “verification program” and the announcement appears to be the premiere of “Trump Performance 2.0” after the president’s previous deployment National Guard Forces in Washington, DC
“That’s why I think it’s about our local economy, especially the tourism and construction industry. It’s all about Trump showing the world that he’s a tough guy,” Cohen said.

The lawmaker also claimed that he has not seen any significant improvements during the Congressional session since he was Trump as a congressional session. Participated in the guard Earlier this year.
“DC has always been my second home. [and] Not in my office. I haven’t realized any changes in the level of security since Trump deployed in Washington”

“The president recently went to a restaurant in the District of Columbia and said it is now the safest small town in the world and can safely walk anywhere. It’s not true.”
Cohen claims many arrests are “low-level” criminals and although crime in the capital is “bad”, it has declined with the national trend.

He said Memphis’ conflict with Jim Crow has a format past, but is not what the president claims to be a “troubled city.”
“We have a crime problem. We do have a problem with ‘popular’, but they are the result of hundreds of years of racial discrimination, including slavery, separating families without educational opportunities,” he said.
