Wahlberg is a key figure in Allow, a Catholic prayer and meditation app that helps users incorporate faith into their daily work. This Lent “Halloween” is launching the Lent Pray40 challenge, featuring special guests hosting daily prayer and meditation sessions.
Lent was a meaningful time for Valberg, a season of reflection and renewal brought him closer to God.
“It reminds me that more things need to be done, and I need to be better,” he said. “There are some things in my life that distract me and free me from the attention of building relationships and getting closer to God. Of course, living a life full of purpose that he chose for me.”
Lent begins today, ashes and lasts until Easter Sunday in April. As part of the Halloween Challenge, Wahlberg will join other actor Chris Pratt and other guests for a special session focused on fasting, one of the central pillars of Lent.
Valberg argues that Lent is not only about personal sacrifice, but also about acknowledging human flaws and efforts to get better.

“I had a very, very troubled childhood. Until now, you know, impatient people, staying with people, not as understanding as they understand, thoughtful. You get stuck in all these things in life every day. There is only one person who is a perfect person, and walks on this earth, that is Jesus, that is Jesus. Everyone else should pay more attention.”
Last year in Lent, Halloween became history #1 app on the Apple App Storethe first religious app has ranked No. 1 in history. Valberg hopes that his success will continue, helping young people build stronger connections with their faith and avoiding the mistakes he made in his youth.

“I made it, I don’t know 50 movies. People always come to me and say something. But most of the time now… people usually talk about Halloween, and that it changes their lives. Either they reconnect them after they are passed away, or they find their lives, find a way to meet and be introduced to God and faith for the first time in their lives.”
With Hallow’s Lent Prayer 40 Challenge, Wahlberg and other faith leaders are inviting people from all over the world to pray, reflect and renew this Lent season.
