According to a New England Patriots coach, Secretary of State Marco Rubio was asked to advocate for then North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis’s work on Chapel Hill. ESPN report.

Tillis told ESPN: “Rubio followed the sports world very closely and he called me and said, ‘Berichik had a chance to come to Chapel Hill.’

“He said,[Belichick] Want a school with a good academic reputation, he wanted to try to build a program to bring a national championship. I said, ‘Okay, let me go [make some calls]. ‘”

According to the report, Tillis then called North Carolina Senate leader Phil Berger, who was initially incredible until Tillis assured him.

A source told ESPN: “The efforts to land Belichick are from politician. ”

Bill Belichick is not UNC’s first choice as a football coach: Report

Belichick’s eight-time Super Bowl champion leaves NFL A year before returning to unknown waters in December.

He entered college football with a profitable five-year, $50 million deal to guide tar heels. If any NFL team calls, the deal also includes an acquisition.

The 72-year-old coach returned to the driving range this week and revealed to reporters on Wednesday that he was exploding.

“It’s a great thing to be a head coach – I can coach anyone I want,” he said. “I can coach this line, I can yell at the tight end, I can yell at the DB, I can yell in the kickoff game.

“I can go to any group I want and coach them. Honestly, it’s the fun part.”

Belichick will debut on September 1 at home against TCU.
