Authorities have arrested a man who accused him of firing fire at him and injured multiple people in a rampage Tuesday morning in two states near the California desert town of Baker.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Deputies have detained Antonio Chaids in a statementThey allegedly fired several shots through unincorporated counties near the California-Nevada border, injuring several people.
Deputies first discovered a man at about 2:30 a.m. who they believed was shot dead while sleeping. He is located near CIMA Road, not far from the Halloran Springs area, and the statement said that the man was not disclosed.
Authorities could not be reached immediately to explain how they were aware of the injured victim or how they were connected to the shooting.
About 10 minutes later, deputies responded to another shooting, this time at the Chevron gas station in Baker.
Authorities accused Chaiz of several rounds in the gas station through the back door and hit a clerk. He also allegedly shot and killed two large parked rigs and hit one of the drivers.
All three victims were taken to local hospitals. Their status is unknown.
Deputies said Shaydes was driving a black truck and found his vehicle heading south on Highway 15. They chased him near Afton Road and arrested him without accidents, about 20 miles away.
The California Highway Patrol said Shaydes participated in a shooting rampage that began at the Nevada Blue Diamond, continuing into Jean in Nevada and ending near Baker.
A spokesman for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed it was aware of the arrest. The department also confirmed that it is in contact with the Clark County Sheriff’s Department to see if Chaidez was involved in a separate shooting without injuries.
