The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Wednesday that the University of Maine (UMS) has agreed to comply with President Donald Trump Executive Order Separating trans athletes from female sports.
UMS is a network of eight public universities in Maine, Temporary suspension of funds Starting last week’s USDA, the state has continued fighting between trans people in women’s and women’s sports. A few days later, the funds were restored.
The USDA now claims that UMS is fully in line with Trump’s executive order.

“After the USDA initiated Title IX compliance review on federal funding, the University of Maine System (UMAINE) clearly communicated its compliance with IX Title IX requirements to protect equal opportunities for women and girls to compete in safe and fair sports, such as President Donald J. Trump’s executive order,” the USDA said in its announcement. ”
“Any false claims from Umaine can and will result in heavy or even potential criminal financial liability.”

UMS Prime Minister Dannel Malloy provided a statement to Fox News Digital, saying the system was “reassured” to understand the USDA.
“The Maine system has been following state and federal laws and NCAA rules, which the USDA confirmed in a press release today,” Prime Minister Malloy said.
“We are confident that we have putting the department’s Chapter IX compliance review below us, so Maine-granted land universities and our statewide partners can continue to leverage USDA and other essential federal funds to strengthen and grow our natural resource economy and rural communities through world-class education, research and expansion.”

The system said the USDA granted UMS $29.78 million in fiscal year 2024 alone. USDA claims it has provided more than $100 million in funding to UMS in recent years A letter to the system.
The NCAA has also revised its gender qualification policy to prohibit any athlete with biological male from participating in female sports.
Trump initially vowed to allow transgender athletes to participate in women’s sports at the White House on February 20 in order to cut funding in Maine.

The next day, Gov. Janet Mills’ office made a statement threatening a legal lawsuit against the Trump administration if the administration withheld federal funds. Trump and Mills were then deceived in their speeches during a bipartisan governor meeting, amid the arguments widely publicized by the White House.
Just a few hours after the interaction, the U.S. Department of Education announced that it would Investigate the country Allow trans athletes to participate in women’s sports and potential IX violations.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has determined that the state and its education department allow transgender athletes to compete and warned that it would violate Title IX if the state does not provide a written agreement to comply with Trump’s executive order.
