A university spokesman said in a statement to Fox News Digital that Upenn has not received any “official notice” about the grant suspension, adding that the university has been and is in “fully compliant” with NCAA and IVY alliance policies.

Thomas is a biological male who has previously competed for the Upenn Men’s swimming team for 2017-20 years under the name Will Thomas. At the 2022 Ivy League Swimming Championships, Thomas ranked first in the 500-yard, 200-yard and 100-yard freestyle, setting a pool and Ivy League record, and ultimately the highest-scoring swimmer in the entire race.
According to the lawsuit, Thomas is the female swimmer introduced by head women’s swimmer Mike Schnur as their incoming teammates at a team meeting in the fall 2019. Schnur allegedly told the women swimmer that Thomas would not share the locker room with them when requested after the initial introduction.
It is said that changes have occurred later.
Thomas officially begins practicing and competes with female swimmers in the fall of 2021. At that time, female swimmers said they found out that Schnur’s alleged claim that Thomas would not share a locker room, which was wrong.
“When Upenn’s female swimmers returned to school in the fall of 2021, they were shocked to find Thomas was allowed to use Upenn’s women’s locker room and allowed to use the women’s locker room during swimming competitions,” the lawsuit said.

“UPENN administrators told women that if anyone is working to accept Thomas’ participation in the Upenn Women’s Team, they should seek consultation and support from the CAPS and LBGTQ Center,” the lawsuit said.
“The administrator also invited women to a speech entitled ‘trans 101.’ So the women were told that Upenn’s position was that if one of the women on the team had any problems with trans men in her team, it was that the woman had psychological problems and needed consultation.”
Fox News Digital reported that the Ministry of Education conducted a formal investigation into potential headline violations in Upenn in February.
