March 17 this year will be Senator Joe LiebermanIn the unexpected death in 2024, a period of Jewish tradition, when families recite the mourner’s Kadish prayers and light candles to honor the loved ones.
Those of us who know Joe Lieberman continue to mourn his passing and missed his smile and decency. As we gather at the memorial service and early screenings of “concentration”, a new documentary about his life, we always express our hope for more leaders like him in today’s harsh political environment. (“Center” will be held at the National Regal Cinema from March 18 to 19.)
The partisan atmosphere in the House of Representatives underlines this desire for Comity Donald TrumpRecent speech to the joint meeting of Congress. We can debate which party or its leaders are now more guilty of polluting public squares, but it will violate the purpose of arguing better behavior on both sides. The political divide (the worrying “American Bay”) keeps us away from the deadlock and just one step away from chaos.

Joe Lieberman no longer speaks on behalf of civilization in politics, but he leaves many examples:
My father is Sen. Joe Lieberman. His last words are what we need to hear now
When he responded to President Ronald Reagan’s last broadcast speech in 1989, Lieberman did not abuse the opportunity to resolve political scores. “Your love for this country and your love for freedom inspired us all,” the New Democratic senator said of the Republican president.
In 1991, Lieberman did not join most Democrats after Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait, rather than opposing the use of force, but became the main Democratic co-sponsor of the resolution authorizing the first (successful) Gulf War.

Lieberman works in the aisle with senators like John McCain, advocating for the 9/11 committee to investigate the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and to create the Department of Homeland Security.
He often joins Republican Senator Bob Dole to urge George HW Bush and Bill Clinton Play a more active role in defending Bosnia from Serbia’s aggressiveness.

Lieberman’s advocacy for harmony and kindness throughout his life will be expressed in his passionate support for citizens and human rights, from traveling to Mississippi, as a student, advocating for the right to vote, demanding his leadership to end the discriminatory “Don’t ask” policy in the military, and his commitment to a cleaner environment (the latter two efforts also involve cross-troop cooperation).
The senator’s public expression of affection for either or without a party people matches his actions. As a staff member who works with him since 45 years ago, through many crises and controversies (rarely his own) we can prove his humor, equality and kindness. Even in the most tense and turbulent situations, we never heard him.
However, Joe Lieberman’s calm manner should not be mistaken for Milquetoast’s career. There are more in the process of the work cited above, he is friendly but straightforward. Decent, but determined.

Thanks so much for his belief in God and his passionate religious beliefs, he has a powerful moral compass that almost always points him in the right direction to improve society. If he fails in rare cases, it will never come from basic motivation or weak principles. In the words of the Prophet Isaiah, he was a “repairman who violated the rules” and not the source of the division.
As lifelong believers led by Joe Lieberman, we can’t help but feel that if he and Al Gore had succeeded in the 2000 election, the United States and the world would have been better. But even after the great and disappointing setbacks of his life, Lieberman showed the same grace and optimism that made his whole life manifest:
“America is a great country,” he said on the floor of the Senate. George W. Bush. “I do think that this morning, each of us should be grateful that in the United States, we addressed the differences in the Civil War, but instead addressed our differences through a vibrant election.”

He continued, “It is time for us all to come together to support these Americas and to maintain our shared values for a long time.” “Psalm 30 assures us that weeping may last all night, but in the morning there are cheerful shouts.”
Our Sorrow for Lost Joe Lieberman It has been wandering on this Yahrzeit of his passing in the long night of his absence from our lives and politics – but we are inspired by his thrilling words and Sterling’s example.
