“The department will continue to evaluate while developing appropriate designs and repairs. Early signs indicate that repairs will take at least several weeks,” NJDOT said in a statement.

Wharton Mayor William Chegwidden said even if it was a federal issue, they were doing everything they could to mitigate the affected areas.
“It’s not really our problem. It’s a federal road, it’s a state road, but with that being said, we have to deal with all the consequences that come up here, and that’s what we’ve been doing.”
