Whale sharks almost swallow snorkeling in Philippines
A snorkel swam quickly as the whale shark opened in Cebu, Philippines on August 3. Despite its size, whale sharks are filters and often pose a threat to humans.

An Australian surfer died after being bitten by a man on Saturday “Shark” Police said at Long Reef Beach in Sydney, police said.
According to NSW Police Chief John Duncan, the victim was identified as the 57-year-old father, the “experienced surfer” lost several limbs. Sky News.
“There was a guy screaming, ‘I don’t want to be bitten, I don’t want to be bitten, don’t bite me,’ I saw the shark’s dorsal fin appear, and that was huge,” witnesses at the scene told Sky News Australia.
Police said they were called to the beach at around 10 a.m. Saturday in response to reports that a man was “seriously injured.”

“He was retrieved from the surf and brought to shore; [he] NSW Police Force said in a statement.
“The headquarters of the North Beach Police Department Command has closed the beach and will contact experts … to identify the shark species involved,” the police added. “Two parts of the surfboard have been taken back and expert inspections have been conducted.”

Duncan told reporters on Saturday that the incident was a “terrible tragedy.”

“The gentleman went out with some of his friends at about 9:30 this morning, about five or six companions,” Sky News quoted him. “He is the experienced surfer we know.”
“Unfortunately, it seems to be a big one, we think it is a shark, Attacked him. His colleagues reportedly managed to return to the beach safely, and soon after, he found his body floating in the surf and several others went out to recover it. ”

Duncan said the victim left behind a wife and young daughter.
