A knife-wielding man is shot in police pursuit New York City Authorities said Sunday that an officer was cut with a 14-inch blade when entering the police area.
The attack took place before 5:30 a.m. in the 73rd District near Brooklyn Brooklyn, when a man entered the building through an employee entrance. New York Police Department Patrol Philip Rivera told reporters in a briefing.
Rivera said the man pulled out a “mass butcher knife” and chopped her off the face when a female official stopped and told him to go out through the front door.
The female officer fought against the knife-wielding man and then escaped from the back of the area. Rivera said an officer escaped with a Taser, but the device was not effective in stopping him.

Several officers chased the man and ordered him to put down his knife. Rivera said the man did not comply with the officer’s orders.
Soon after, the man rushed towards an officer with a knife. Then several officers opened fire at the man wielding the knife and attacked him countless times. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The officer recovered the 14-inch blade at the scene.
