Portner called the story a “lifelong favorite,” he said, reflecting values that people can still learn.
“Resilience is just the strength of the family and the unconditional love for others,” Potner said. “Yes, I think a lot of it sounds cliché, but it can help you persevere in many trials of life, suffering and all times.”

Katie Burnham and sister Caroline Burnham told Fox News Digital in an interview that she could learn from tough times.
“Don’t be overly politicized, but I think we can learn a lot from that generation through the past decade,” Burnham said.
She added: “I feel like our generation has almost followed similar steps in our grandparents and great-grandparents, so my grandparents were from that era, so it was fun, it was interesting to hear their stories and their lives stories, and now we’ve been through those tough, turbulent world politics ages.”
Caroline Burnham told Fox News Digital that even as a member of Gen Z, she admires classical stories such as “The Voice of Music.”
“I feel it does talk a lot like the community. Like you know, Maria, when she was kicked out of the monastery, they did it because it was her best and then she was able to form a new community through her family. Then she went into a home that wasn’t connected to each other because they didn’t connect with that place, and I was able to remind them of that, which was a very important thing.”
Burnham added that she believes her generation has nostalgia for the community and culture portrayed in the “Voice of Music.”
“I think, at least for me, I feel like my friends and I have been talking about this all the time, like the degree of disconnect between us and phone and social media, you never meet anyone because everyone works like three jobs and no one can pay to go to the bar these days.”
“So, I think there is a reminder that maybe it can be lived in different times, too,” she added. “It’s not a good time to spend in Austria, but it’s great to escape it.”
