‘Katamari Damacy’ Creator’s New Game Is About Teen Angst, Cute Dogs, and Eye Boogers

When he was a kid, Keita Takahashi, the beloved Japanese game developer, was selected at school, so he never felt like going. His latest game, To timitate some of these challenges. It tells the story of a teenager – a child who struggles to adapt, deals with eye-sniffers and finds himself through songs and exploration, while their arms inexplicably fall into a T-position.

To T, Released on May 28 by Annapurna Interactive, it follows Takahashi’s trajectory of making colorful, fun games that are undoubtedly cute but incredible. His most famous game, katamari damacyis to roll all eyes on a growing ball, from pen to person, featuring an unforgettable soundtrack and the most gorgeous king ever. Others, such as 2019 Vatamyes Eccentric, full of vitality, full of stool.

Created by Game Studio Uvula To t Follow the teenagers’ struggles to run in the bathroom, dress up, and deal with bullies as their arms are trapped in the T. Fortunately, the teenager’s dog is a shockingly skilled creature that shames modern service dogs, where they can help whenever a teen needs an extra moveable hand. (Annapurna Interactive aptly describes the teen’s furry assistant as “very cute dog.”)

The plot story begins with an optimistic song about the game (don’t be with “Giraffe song,” sings in the trailer for Rebecca Sugar.

Hopefully with a deeper insight into the game, I tracked Takahashi during my GDC during my Xbox event in San Francisco, where he hid in the back corner away from the day and the bar. But while he wouldn’t answer too many questions about his game and what it all means, he would still gently capture anyone coming in the game.

Here is abbreviated version of the puzzling interview.

Wired: Tell me something that usually happens in this game.

Keita Takahashi: [Laughs] What’s usually going on with this game?

We will start from there.

It’s a game about a teenager who gets stuck and tries to figure out where the T-position pose comes from. This is a game about – am. [Long pause] Do I need an explanation? [Another long pause] No. [Laughs]

fair. Who is this character? How would you describe them?

A teenager, 13 years old, female or male, whatever I mean, I don’t care – put it in a T-shaped company for some reason.

What makes T the perfect pose?

Because it’s perfect! You are perfect. I think this is perfect.

What do you think is the hardest thing to do?

Go to the bathroom. That’s why dogs help [with] everything. Change clothes, wash your face in the bathroom.

I’ve never played the game that made me start going to the bathroom.
