Full jurors and waitlists were selected in the second murder trial Karen Reada former financial adviser is accused of killing her Boston police boyfriend John O’Keefe after a fight in January 2022 snowstorm.
All 12 jurors and six candidates were authorized Tuesday to clear the way for the opening speech. Since the end of Friday, the case requires only two other jurors, 16 of which were selected.
Read, 45 years old, charged Second-degree murdermanslaughter, left the scene of the fatal accident.

O’Keefe died at the age of 46. Read was one of a group of people who found him on the front lawn of another official at about 6 a.m. on January 29, 2022.

Witnesses testified that O’Keeffe never entered the house, but Red strongly denied the allegations that she killed him.
She pleaded not guilty and argued that he might have been killed inside and moved into the yard where he died of head and hypothermia.

The first trial last year ended the jury after the defense pointed to the issue of the investigation and the obvious conflict of interest involving the main investigators.

If convicted of the highest charge, reading may face life. The trial is expected to take six to eight weeks.
