Jeffrey Epstein saga continues as Congress returns from recess

Epstein’s archives dominated Congress before the summer break. But the first thing lawmakers wrestled when they returned to Capitol Hill in recent days was the Epstein archives.

Note: If you want something to disappear, don’t get it in your first business orders.

The Epstein problem was ginger all summer. House Republicans made little sensation when they obstructed the body in early July – as they struggled to pass unrelated bills without delving into the complex and tricky discussions of Epstein’s archives. Then, when the House returned, Republican leaders immediately prepared a resolution to formally bless the Oversight Committee’s Epstein investigation. The group released about 32,000 pages of documents related to Epstein.

Just a few hours after returning to the meeting, House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-la. Others met with Epstein accusers.

This explains why this problem won’t disappear anytime soon.

Before rest, representative. Thomas Massie, r-ky. , and D-Calif. Ro Khanna’s collaboration may bypass Johnson and force the house to vote to release the Epstein archive. The Epstein environment infected almost quickly all legislative efforts in Congress, effectively entangling the body. So Johnson relaxed everyone a little earlier.

But this problem is evil in rest time. Massie and Khanna returned to Johnson’s head with Gambit of parliament and forced Epstein to vote.

Legislators on both sides often hold press conferences outside the Capitol called the “House Triangle”. Legislators often use this venue to invite non-members or figures of legislation they promote at press conferences.

Sometimes members bring a lot of people. The crowds occasionally gather, depending on this issue.

But I have never seen numerous people appear on the house triangle on Wednesday morning to hear Massi, Kana and the victims talking about their efforts to pry open the archives. People sprinkled on the sidewalks and on the squares. This forced U.S. Capitol police to restrict access to the area.

Some victims tell their Epstein story in painful details.

“When I entered the massage room, Jeffrey Epstein took off his clothes and asked me to do things to him, and my eyes were filled with tears. I had never been afraid in my life,” said Epstein plaintiff Haley Robson.

“I even travelled to Africa with former President Bill Clinton and other famous figures. In that moment, I realized how powerless I was,” said Epstein victim Chauntae Davies.

Massie and Khanna are deploying what is called a “discharge petition.” Going past the speaker’s head and debate and vote on your issue is very rare – provided that one can design 218 indoor signatures. If Massie and Khanna piece together enough signers, they may vote later this month.

Republican Party Leaders are concerned about this. That’s why Johnson wants to interfere in his own measures to get the House Oversight Committee to investigate Epstein. But Johnson designed the measure in a way that the House could approve – without a direct vote. In this way, Republicans can point out that angry voters are actually taking Epstein’s archives seriously – without an actual rolling call to vote records of their position, perhaps angering President Donald Trump. Or they could tell other voters who don’t want them to be in Epstein to say they never voted directly. After all, it is buried in unrelated measures.

Does it make sense?

But there is another motivation behind the leadership’s unique parliamentary move on Epstein: They want to cover up the Republicans that the house is actually solving the Epstein problem. The move could coax fewer members to support Massie/Khanna’s efforts. This will prevent the House from voting on Epstein. But otherwise, the house may need to fight it directly.

Massie called it a “political cover” to prevent his plans to release documents with Khanna.

Johnson opened fire at Massi.

“I’m not going to put too much stock into what Thomas Massi said. House Republicans are very stable about the maximum disclosure and maximum transparency,” Johnson said.

Trump has long promised to release documents. But Trump’s position this week is to blame Democrats.

“It’s a never-ending Democratic scam. You know, it reminds me a little bit [President John F.] Kennedy’s situation. We give them everything over and over again. “More and more, no one is satisfied. But it’s really a Democratic scam because they try to get people to talk about something completely unrelated to the success we’ve achieved since I was president.”

Massie advises Johnson just to try to keep Trump in good shape by walking the political ropes.

“The speaker is working with [whether] He will have to choose to support Donald Trump’s new position that these archives should not be released or find justice for these victims and survivors. But Masi insists on publishing more materials.

“It’s obvious that they’re not editing to protect the victims. They’re editing to protect people’s reputation,” Massi said.

A Republican, who is in line with the president, threatens to eliminate those associated with Epstein.

“I’m not afraid to name names,” R-GA. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said in a press conference. “So if they wanted to give me a list, I would walk into the Capitol on the floor of the House and I would say the damn name that abused these women.”

Khanna is supported by Greene.

“I’ve never had a press conference with Marjorie Taylor Greene before,” progressive Khanna said. “I don’t think Marjorie Taylor Greene is going to be part of a stunt show against President Trump.”

We will soon know whether the house has the right to vote to thwart the Republican leadership and consider the Massi/Karna resolution. Troubled with Epstein’s affairs may even begin to affect the House’s ability to fight conventional legislation again.

Therefore, the Epstein legend continues. Same as before August’s break.
