Annapolis, Maryland – An Indiana man is accused in federal court of posing a threat to state boundaries related to lockdown and shooting US Naval Academy Last week in Maryland, Indiana’s U.S. Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
Jackson Fleming, 23, Collegethe U.S. Attorney’s Office for Northern Indiana said in a press release. Fleming of Chesterton, Indiana, was charged with one count of spreading threats in an interstate communication, the release said.
“We intend to fight these allegations in court,” Fleming’s attorney Jonathan Bedi wrote in an email.
“No one, including Jack, should not be judged by the government’s allegations,” Bedi wrote. “We are ready to implement the strongest defense, and I believe Jack will be proven when the complete facts appear.”
Threatening posts triggered blockade College Thursday. It prompted authorities to respond to false reports that turned out to be the gunman. During the investigation, a mid-level crew member who mistakenly believed safety was hit in the shoulder during the ensuing chaos.

The injured middle crew member was released from the hospital on Friday. Members of the Navy’s Security Forces were also slightly injured. College said and received treatment in the hospital before being released.
The false report comes amid anxiety about a series of recent violence in schools across the country, including the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at the University of Utah. A shooting at a Denver high school last week injured two students and the gunman died, while a shooting at the Minneapolis Catholic Church killed two children, and 17 people were injured two weeks ago.
