Authorities said a 14-year-old boy fatally shot himself in a house earlier this week, with police accusing an Irving man of endangering children’s dangers.
Christian Yeager, 56, was arrested by Irving police on Thursday night, according to Orange County jail records.
Earlier that day, around 2:42 p.m., Irving police responded to a report that a child was injured in a house in Heathergreen and Weepingwood. They tried to take lifesaving measures for the injured boy, but he died shortly thereafter.
The detective determined that the injury was self-inflicted and was investigating whether it was intentional or accidental. The boy did not live at home.
The boy attended Southlake High School in Irvine Unified School District. His identity was detained before the notification of a close relative. Law enforcement is working with the district to provide support services to students and staff, officials said.
Police said Yeager was booked by the police for suspected crimes endangering children and guns.
