Apple may not admit it (at least not yet), but the iPhone Air is not just a scaled-down version of the company’s latest phone, nor is it just a more complicated shot of its usual Plus model. Here is its upcoming foldable super stylish preview.
Now, it seems like a stretch, and there is something to say about the difference between a traditional OLED display and a difference that must be bent. However, the arrival of foldable iPhones has become a member of the technology community The worst secret. Not convinced yet? OK, think about it. If you are in charge at Apple and are facing the task of figuring out how to use flexible display design and design the first phone of a company, how will you do it? Will you try Reinvent the wheel? No, you’ll check the competitors to see if there’s a formula that can resolve your needs. Enter Samsung, which is not only one of Apple’s biggest competitors, but also a foldable phone maker that has already had seven generations of people.
Also, if we look back at the spring of Samsung’s release Galaxy S25 Edgeyou may have noticed some similarities. Just like the iPhone Air, the S25 Edge is Samsung’s neutron flagship phone: the S25+’s thinner, more elegant attractions. It has many of the same drawbacks, such as a smaller battery, camera than you would expect, on premium devices that cost around $1,000.
However, the biggest clue that Apple might remove a page from Samsung’s script is the thinness of the iPhone Air. In 2025, the idea of simply using a worse spec without lowering the price of the iPhone actually makes no sense. Unless you do this to prepare for future products. So if we consider the S25 edge again (measuring only 5.88 mm thick) and then compare it to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (appearing a few months later, with a dimension of 4.2 mm when unfolded), then a noticeable pattern suddenly forms. The iPhone 17 Air is half the time Apple is about to fold, and next year, if the rumors are correct, Apple will essentially smash two of them together, while adding hinges and a flexible screen. Look, there’s your iPhone fold (or whatever Apple eventually calls it).
When viewing side by side next to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, it’s not hard to see how the iPhone Air’s design translates into a foldable iPhone.

OK, enough guess, what about iPhone air itself? In short, this thing is only 5.6mm deliciously sparse. This is really one of the things you can’t fully appreciate until you hold it in your hand. It has beautiful edges and while I don’t like the term “camera plateau”, there is a lot of engineering to create subtle slopes to raise to satisfy the phone’s lonely 48MP rear camera.
On the front, the air’s 6.5-inch display looks as colorful and vibrant as you’d expect, and I’m glad to see it gets promotional support as well. For selfies, I really like Apple’s new center stage system, which uses a square 18MP sensor, so you can smoothly transition to landscape photos between typical portrait-style lenses. Plus, if you don’t want to manually control things, there’s an automatic setup that can seriously simplify future social media photo and video shooting.
The shiny finish on the aerial titanium frame is pretty good, although if Apple didn’t say that, I might think that was stainless steel. That is, for only 165 grams, titanium is one of several ways to reduce the weight of the air while improving durability. I would also like to add that the sky blue model is my favorite air color because according to the light, its tone changes from bright Robin eggs to low-key gray. The only downside to the overall design is that the chassis is a bit like a fingerprint magnet.
However, after further testing, I still need to answer some questions. The addition of the A19 Pro chip and promotional screen should bring a great improvement in the power efficiency of the phone. However, in real life, it remains to be seen how the battery life of air will be extended. Apple claims to play for up to 27 hours in a row, but it’s an illustration, and during the keynote, the company showed off a new super sleek Magsafe battery pack that could ultimately be an essential accessory for those who push their phones hard.
Additionally, from a few camera samples I’ve seen, the iPhone Air’s 48MP rear camera has excellent image quality, although I’m still not sure to move to a single lens system, even though it does support 4x zoom.
Anyway, with iPhone air filling usually a blank that the standard Plus model is usually a standard one, Apple took over the traditionally undervalued middle child and turned it into the most stylish and stylish phone the company has ever had. Unfortunately, all of this refined price is indeed slightly above $999, up from $899 last year’s iPhone 16 Plus.
The iPhone Air starts at $999 and has 256GB of storage. Bookings will start Friday, September 12 at 8 a.m. ET, and will be officially sold on September 19.
