Instagram is adding another tool to its arsenal of anti-bullying measures. But this time, Yuan is directly recruiting school officials to speed up its response to safety issues affecting teenagers. The program offers something for what many parents have long said about schools: a way to quickly browse in-app reports that directly affect young students. Meta promises that schools joining the program will “prioritize” their reports in the modest cohort and that it will respond to those reports within 48 hours. Registered schools will also receive a School Partner badge attached to their Instagram account, as well as in-app information on how to use their reporting tools and other resources.
It is worth noting, though, that it sounds like Meta is not hiring other content hosts to help with these new fast track reports. Asked about the increasing number of people supporting the program, an Instagram spokesperson told Engadget that only schools’ reports will “accelerate” through their existing reporting channels and that schools will be able to add “other contexts” to their reports.
