Ada County Judge Steven Hippler told both sides Idaho Student murder case, i.e. they will no longer have courts to allow large amounts of documents to be submitted without a public view.
“In this case, the general practice of applying for sealing materials in such cases has become normative, not exception,” Shippler wrote in an order filed on Monday. ” Rather than seeking to edit discrete sensitive information, keep the entire document under seal. In addition, many of the materials the parties seek to seal are already in the public domain, or are not confidential or sensitive at all.”
Bryan Kohberger Shippler said the defense team and state prosecutors can still ask for certain information, such as the witness’s name and the victim’s family. If the seal is reasonable under Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32, he will also allow the document to be placed within the scope of the seal, which stipulates documents exempt from public disclosure.

“For example, despite previous concerns raised by the court, the state is seeking extensive orders to seal the entire document to protect an individual’s identity rather than simply using abbreviation or requiring that the deleted version be made publicly disclosed.”
