Idaho judge denies Bryan Kohberger’s request Defence experts were introduced to prove theories about prosecutors’ actions and Amazon shopping history.
“The information the defense lawyer seeks to convey can be raised,” Judge Steven Hippler wrote in a Tuesday order. “The attorney may provide witnesses via video streaming during the hearing, and the court may allow testimony live streaming through video if the court determines it is necessary to hear the witnesses.”

Defense attorney Elisa Massoth believes that no Amazon evidence should be introduced in the trial, including “click activity” on the app – partly because the term is vague and because prosecutors allegedly failed to define it or describe the nature of expert testimony, prosecutors all wish to introduce the nature of expert testimony.
She continued: “The state is incomplete and unfair bias toward all Amazon history and Amazon click activity, making it unacceptable.”

Amazon Records have not been made public yet, but it is possible to show KA-BAR purchase: NBC reported in 2023 for NBC’s “Dateline”, Kohberger purchased the Ka-Bar knife through Amazon in 2022, and then moved to Pullman, Washington, to attend Washington State University. Another expert Hippler’s command identified is Syryan, which may be a reference for expert SY Ray who geo-registers and tracks movements through telephone data.
Neither the authorities nor Koberg’s chief defense attorney Anne Taylor immediately responded to the request for clarification.
The defense plans to respond to Ray with FBI agent Nicholas Ballance’s analysis and interpretation of the telephone tower and call records, while Koberg’s team is “seriously flawed.”

The defense has separately requested that Ballance be blocked as an expert witness.
Two witnesses are expected to testify at the April 9 motion hearing.

Kohberger is scheduled to be with Kill to death Madison Mogen, 21, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20. Four University of Idaho students were killed in a family invasion at 4 a.m. on November 13, 2022.
Kohberger is studying for his Ph.D. Nearby Criminology at Washington State University.
He faces four counts of first-degree murder and, if convicted, faces death penalty. The judge’s arraignment was filed with a defense of innocence in May 2023.
