Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) As the Trump administration seeks to expand its arrest and deportation operations across the United States, it takes action to detain illegal immigrants.
ICE announced that the Delaney Hall facility in Newark, New Jersey, said it had reached an agreement with the facility’s owners to re-establish a processing and detention center that can accommodate up to 1,000 beds.
“This detention center is the first person to open under the new government,” Acting Ice Commissioner Caleb Vitello said in a statement.

“Locations near international airports simplify logistics and help facilitate timely handling of individuals we detain as we fulfill President Trump’s mandate to arrest, detain and evacuate illegal foreigners,” he said.
The agency said the facility will expand the Northeast’s capacity and improve the agency’s ability to manage “growing” law enforcement and evacuation operations in the region.
