How to delete your 23andMe data

23AndMe has challenged several years through application today. Given the uncertainty of the future of DNA testing companies and what will happen to all the genetic data it collects, now is a critical time for customers to protect their privacy.   1. Log in to your 23andMe account.

  2. Go to the Settings tab of your profile.

  3. Click on the section called “23andMe Data”.

  4. If you want to keep a copy of your own records, download the data immediately.

  5. Go to the “Delete Data” section

  6. Click “Permanently Delete Data”.

  7. You will receive an email from 23andMe to confirm the action. Click the link in that email to complete the process.

Although most of a person’s personal information will be deleted, 23andme does retain some information to comply with legal compliance. Details in the company .

There are some other privacy actions that customers can take. First, anyone who chooses to have 23AndMe storage saliva and DNA can ask the sample to be destroyed. You can make a selection from the Preferences tab of the Account Settings menu. Second, you can see if you grant permission to the genetic data and samples used in scientific research. You can also check the allowance if you prefer and revoke it from the Account Settings page; it is listed under Research and Product Consent.
