You might want to break the connection with Amazon – maybe you are reducing your impulse purchases, trying to escape the subscribe rabbit hole or just rethink where your money goes. For whatever reason, Amazon offers you two main options: You can cancel your primary membership to stop monthly (or annual) payments, or you can go all out to delete your entire Amazon account, including your order history, personal data, and access to services like Kindle and Prime Video. This guide will walk through two processes so that you can control the presence of Amazon.
How to cancel your Amazon major membership
It’s much easier to cancel Amazon Prime than you think, especially if you want to save money or no longer use privileges. Prime comes with the benefits of free shipping, access to Prime Video, Prime Reading, and more, but if you don’t use these, you may need to let go.

How to completely delete your Amazon account
If you want to go one step further and permanently delete your Amazon account, as well as all personal data, order history and any related services – you can request a full account to close. While this will irreversibly remove account details, such as your order history, you can register again from scratch at any time if you change your mind. Once your account disappears, you will not be able to access anything related to that account again. This includes you:

Access digital content (such as Kindle books, major video purchases, or Amazon music)

So, before proceeding, make sure you download anything you want to keep, spend any remaining credit and cancel open orders or subscriptions.

Go Close your Amazon account Help page, or log in to your Amazon account and select Accounts and Lists Then account, and navigate to Manage your data Then Close your Amazon account.

After submitting the request, Amazon will send a confirmation message to your email or phone number. You need to reply within five days to verify the deletion request. If you do not, the request expires and your account remains active.
If you have multiple Amazon accounts, you will need to go through each process separately. After you delete the account, you will not be able to reclaim it. If you want to use Amazon again in the future, you must create a brand new account. Also, your account will be deleted on all Amazon sites around the world – so if you also use Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, or Amazon.co.jp that you are also logged in, these will also disappear.

Can you refund your primary membership?
Yes, in some cases. If you haven’t used any major benefits yet during the current period (for example, if you haven’t placed an order for free shipping or play anything on Prime Video, Amazon will usually give you a full refund. It usually takes three to five business days to process.
What happens to your main attachment?
If you have signed up for the primary video channel of Primaint+ or Showtime (such as Paramount+ or Showtime), those channels will also end when you cancel the Prime membership. Once Prime is cancelled, these subscriptions will not be renewed.
Also, if you subscribe to Prime via Google Play on your Android device, you will need to cancel via Google subscription. Similarly, if your Prime is bundled with a third-party service like T-Mobile, you will need to contact the provider directly to cancel.
